Eczema, which is also known as dermatitis, is a term that is applied to a range of persistant dry skin condition. The variation of the condition between people can be considerable, in mild cases of eczema the skin is dry, scaly, red and itchy. People suffering from severe cases there may be weeping, crusting and bleeding of the skin. The irritation can result in constant scratching that causes the skin to split and bleed and also leaves it open to infection. Children can grow out of eczema only to have it reoccur later in life.
