Understanding the Female Reproductive System

Areas like the reproductive system are complex, containing internal anatomy such as the uterus or womb, which hosts the developing foetus, and also produces vaginal and uterine secretions that passes the male's sperm through the fallopian tubes. The ovaries which aren't attached to the fallopian tubes but to the outer layer of the uterus via the ovarian ligaments, are oval shaped and measure 3cm x 1.5 cm x 1.5cm and located in the lateral wall of the pelvis region called the ovarian fossa. The ovaries produce the female's egg cells. Knowing fine details such as this are essential to medical artists' when creating medicallly correct artwork.
