Vascular System or Circulatory System Illustration
This is the gallery of medical art and illustration completed by the medical-artist.com team, concentrating on the vascular system otherwise called the circulatory system. Made up of arteries, veins and capillaries the vascular system carries blood and lymph through out the human body. Pumped by the heart, the arteries and veins carry blood delivering oxygen and nutrients to the body tissues and taking away tissue waste matter. The vascular system also contains lymphatic vessels which are thin walled, valved structures that carry the clear lymphatic fluid containing water and blood cells. Lymph originates as plasma, which is the fluid portion of blood. For illustrations just of the heart, please visit this gallery here.
The role of the lymphatic system is to help to protect and maintain the fluid environment of the body, removing excess fluid, waste, debris, dead blood cells, pathogens, cancer cells, and toxins from the cells and the tissue spaces between them. The lymphatic system also delivers nutrients, oxygen and hormones from the blood direct to the tissue cells.
Illustrations of vascular disease are also included in this gallery, rangings from the disease of arteries, valves, veins and lymph vessels. Please contact the medical artist team here to discuss any medical illustration requirements.
