Introduction to a book designed with the reader in mind – a colouring in book for adult learning
As illustrators every new project is exciting. What was particular about this one was its subject matter – Biology! As part of the 149 illustrations we were asked to produce they covered animal anatomy, as well as cellular anatomy, energy production, embryology, climate change, the weather systems amongst many natural world subjects.
We completed the illustrations using Adobe Illustrator so they were black and line only and with no colour. We used Adobe Illustrator as a vector based programme to get a nice clean line and a medium that is perfect for printing. The purpose of the line illustrations to allow an adult reader to learn biology anatomy by the process of colouring in. Useful as a supplement to a biology class or on its own as a self-study guide, the biology colouring book is aimed to help master key concepts and structures. Instead of reading lecture notes or textbooks, this illustrated guide authored by Rene Fester Kratz helps those learn biology interactively whilst retaining information more effectively. The book can be pre-ordered from Amazon as its released in February 2019.
