de Bureaus – Medical Illustration for Personal Injury

Introduction to medical illustrations for use in medical documents for a personal injury company

As far as projects go, this was large. Approached by a personal injury insurance company called de Bureaus based in the Netherlands, the project brief was to provide a bank of illustrations that would give a generic overview of injuries that can occur in daily life. For example sporting injuries or minor accidents as they did not have to be patient specific injuries.  Their purpose to be incorporated into documentation to help the layperson understand the medical jargon used in often lengthy written reports created by de Bureau as part of their patient documentation. We were also commissioned to create some normal anatomy illustrations as well.

Using our existing bank of illustrations which we were able to adapt and supply very quickly, a large volume of medical illustrations were created also labelled in Dutch. Working closely with the de Bureaus team, the medical illustrations were created and formatted at the correct size to add straight into the reports. Having provided 222 illustrations so far, the aim now going into 2019 is to provide some more patient specific illustrations as well as some of the more unusual injuries that can occur as an ongoing project.
