Overview

Flashcards are a set of cards bearing information used within teaching to educate all manner of subjects. They are made up of printed cards with visuals or illustrations on either or both sides, with a question on a card and an answer overleaf used in classroom drills or in private study. They can also be created to be used in an electronic format. The question-and-answer format using visuals aids in the learning experience. Flashcards are widely used as a learning drill to aid memorisation by way of visual learning and spaced repetition.

Project Brief

Commissioned by Quarto Publishing Medical-artist.com were tasked with illustrating medical illustrations for a set of Flash Cards that were going to be used to teach anatomy to school students, college students, medical and nursing students and healthcare trainers. The content was to cover embryonic development, the digestive system, the circulatory system, the large intestine. The brief was to create illustrations to cover the subject matter to convey the anatomy so it was clear, concise, aimed for the specific target audience, and illustrations that would contain the appropriate detail to coincide with the questions that were going to be asked.
